零距离接触——美国五所学校来访

　　Admission officers from Smith, Haverford,Bennington, Kenyon and Tufts visited us on 22nd and 23rdof May. Following are some thoughts from our students regarding to this visit.

　　零距离接触——美国五所学校来访。来自美国史密斯学院、哈弗福德学院、伯明顿学院、凯尼恩学院和塔夫茨大学的招生官来到成都外国语学校中美高中AP课程中心，在5月22日与我们的家长见面并对文理教育，美国大学录取等方面做了深入浅出的讲解；23日，招生官们走进课堂，为我们的学生上了一堂充满活力的择校课。


　　下面是几位同学对于这次活动的感受

　　梁嘉诚（Hank）同学

　　这次的大学来访让我收益良多，作为一名AP课程中心的学生，我应该定准自己的目标。而这次的大学讲座让我更加了解这五所非常好的学校，并且明确了自己的目标。而从这次大学来访中，我深的体会还是在和招生官面对面接触的过程中得到的。我以前一直以为一定要不断地证明自己的能力，一定要得到很多奖项，做很多大事才会受到招生官的青睐。可事实上呢，经过Tufts 招生官的耐心解说，我明白了其实重要的是展现一个真实而又与众不同的你，甚至你可以写你参加过很多比赛但没有获奖，其实获奖与否并不是必要的，关键是在除开高中学习生活之外丰富自己，合理安排自己的时间去做自己喜欢的事情，那就足够了。我认为这次大学招生官讲座让我们能够近距离接触招生官并提出自己的质疑，这无疑是一个非常好的体验。总的来说，我在这次大学招生官见面会里面学到了很多。

　　On the May 23th,students from AP center gave a warm welcome to admission officers from top colleges, which are the Smith College, the Bennington College. Their visit shared the background information about their school and talked about the difference between colleges and universities. The lectures were attractive to students while the atmosphere was active and concentrating. Later, students from Grade10-11 were regrouped into two different classes. Teachers of the visitors gave us joyful lessons to understand the relation in extracurricular activities and applications as well as the details of college life. Through the whole process of experience, we learned and perceived more knowledge and information about how is the college meat to us.

　　肖雨桐（Avery）同学

　　I’ve always been a huge fan of college visit. I figure that nothing is more exciting than talking to college admission officers, as they’re often very kind and willing to answer all sorts of questions.

　　Liberal arts colleges are different from big research universities in many ways. Their traits of putting focus on undergraduate education and having smaller class sizes intrigue me the most.Smith is my favorite school among the four, and it clears out my misconceptions about girls’ school. All girls, no guys! Won’t that be too boring? Not at all! In fact, scientific studies have shown that students learn best when they’re being with people of their gender, for there will be less disturbance. Besides,Kenyon has a strong writing tradition, giving students an intensive writing practice in all classes, even math and science.

　　In short, I’m looking forward to experiencing liberal arts education.

　　这已经是四次文理学院来访，让我们对于美国大学和教育体系因此愈发熟悉。大学的环境竞争非常激烈，适合活跃、外向的学生，而像Haverford和Smith这样的文理学院，也适合内敛安静的学生。美国社会本身就是差异性和包容性相结合，这一特点在文理学院得到了很好的体现。在上午的Workshop中，我们了解到文理学院的教育中注重性格的再培养，对领导力、沟通能力的塑造，打造中国学生的差异性和优越性；而在文化上的教育，学生得以与教授更频繁的接触，与来自世界各地的学生成为同窗，培养我们世界的视野，包容美国文化的多样性。一上午与招生官一起讨论、交流的时光转瞬既逝，我很感激我们有这样的平台可以让我们更好的了解自己今后怎样融入到美国大学生活中去。我们这一代是很幸运的一代，我们可以带着中国传统的自豪去到一个文化多种多样、又互相包容的美利坚。我们是世界人，我们来自成外AP。
